Hanna Somatics in Bristol
Hanna Somatics is an innovative mind-body therapy that helps you realign with your innate freedom of movement.
To relieve this pain and reintroduce freedom of movement long term, we work with the nervous system through slow mindful movements to re-educate and release the chronic holding habits of the muscles.
Hanna Somatics is different to other treatments and physical practices as it re-trains the muscle memory at the brain level so the issue is dealt with at the source, making the changes long lasting whilst being a pain free and enjoyable process.
This system is developed from the Feldenkrais method by a neurophysiologist who studied with Feldenkrais himself, Thomas Hanna. Hanna understood that when muscles become stressed they contract, potentially causing pain and restriction of movement, this reaction is an instruction from the brain, it is the nervous system in the freeze, flight or fight response.

Combining Hanna Somatics and Bowen Technique can be very effective which is why I offer a treatment path that combines Hanna Somatics and The Bowen Technique. Using the passive techniques of Bowen in the session and then giving you the Hanna Somatics movements to do in your own time which will help you to create lasting change and take control of your own recovery.
